Welcome.
Your assessment is booked. ๐ŸŒฑ
Everything you need to know before we meet.
1
What to expect from the free assessment
The assessment is a 45-minute live session via Google Meet. It's structured, but relaxed โ€” more like a conversation than a test. We use targeted activities to understand where your child's foundations are strong and where the gaps are. Your child doesn't need to prepare anything. They just show up.
Important: The assessment is not a grade-level test. We're looking for the root of the difficulty โ€” not comparing your child to their classmates. Many children perform better in the assessment than they do at school because the environment is calm, one-to-one, and pressure-free.

What you'll need โ€” checklist
  • A laptop, tablet, or desktop โ€” phone screens are a bit small for the activities we use.
  • Stable internet connection โ€” any home broadband or 4G/5G will work.
  • Google Meet โ€” free to use, no account needed. We'll send the link via WhatsApp before the session. You can also download the Google Meet app.
  • A quiet space โ€” ideally away from distractions so your child can focus. A dining table or desk works perfectly.
  • A pencil and a few sheets of plain paper โ€” for the maths and writing activities.
  • A parent or guardian nearby โ€” for the first 5 minutes to settle your child in. After that, we'll take it from there.

How the 45 minutes breaks down
0โ€“5 min
Hello & warm-up โ€” we introduce ourselves and do a quick, fun activity to settle your child in. No pressure here.
5โ€“20 min
Reading & language activities โ€” we listen to your child read, explore comprehension, and check for phonics or vocabulary gaps.
20โ€“35 min
Maths activities โ€” number sense, operations, and problem-solving at different levels to find where the foundation sits.
35โ€“45 min
Parent check-in โ€” your child finishes and we speak with you directly. We'll share initial impressions and answer any questions.
4
After the assessment โ€” within 48 hours
You'll receive a written Learning Gap Report via WhatsApp. This sets out exactly what we found, which programme your child needs, and at what level they should start. There's no obligation. The report is yours to keep โ€” whether you continue with FoundRoot or not.
If you decide to go ahead, we'll agree a schedule, share a simple payment link, and your child will start at exactly the right level โ€” no wasted sessions, no going over things they already know.

The five FoundRoot programmes
Every child begins with the Assessment. It routes them into one or more of these four delivery programmes โ€” starting at the exact level they need.
